BRICKWORKS SAYS

Step inside and you immediately sense the calm confidence of this top-floor home. Cleverly remodelled by the owners to make the most of its elevated position, it feels both expansive and intimate, with light pouring in from angled windows and skylights. The roofline creates subtle, shifting geometries throughout, giving each room a distinctive character.

The heart of the home is the open-plan living space, where bespoke cabinetry runs the length of the kitchen wall, its clean lines matched by the dining area’s sculptural furniture. Sliding doors lead to a private terrace, almost overflowing with greenery. Elsewhere, details like whitewashed brick on the staircase, integrated storage in the bedroom, and the pared-back bathroom reflect the thoughtful approach that underpins the whole renovation.

Windus Road is a calm residential street, just a short walk from Stoke Newington station and the pull of Church Street. From lazy afternoons in Clissold Park to dinner at a favourite local, or a quick trip into town, this pocket of London keeps everything within easy reach.

THE OWNERS SAY

We knew the flat had a lot of potential when we first moved in: in particular the south-facing aspect and balcony, and the amount of natural light, but it also felt unusual to have a contemporary feeling loft space like this on top of an old Victorian building. We hadn’t seen another flat like it in London.

We carried out a full renovation; large double-glazed windows, high-spec modern appliances, a Holte kitchen, resurfaced roof, and a functional, flexible living space with plenty of storage for two people. After all the work we did, we feel very attached to it and will be sad to leave! My partner and I have loved living and hosting our friends here.

We’ll miss Abney Park, Walthamstow Marshes, Church Street, and all the great pubs and cafés nearby. It’s an awesome flat and location, and we hope the next owners will appreciate and enjoy it as much as we do.
