3 Bedroom Mid-Terraced House, Herbrand Road, Bedford, MK42

Herbrand Road, Bedford, MK42

Description

This traditional terraced home in the Fenlake area comes to the market as an opportunity for many, offering a first step onto the ladder, the space for a family, or an investment for landlords.

The owners, a young couple, saw its charm and potential when they purchased the home in 2013, and its size was a big factor, quite literally. Now a family of three, the updated and improved property easily fits this new lifestyle.

The lounge to the front has ample capacity for a play area to spread out with toys, still with room for large sofas for curling up with a book or in front of the TV. There’s also a wide bay window for lots of natural light. Coming down the hall, the dining room is expansive enough for everyone. Here we see dinner parties and Sunday roasts, with a table that’s not only a place to eat, but to socialise, to do homework, to craft even. There are built-in cupboards in the dining room, ideal for keeping the hoover, etc. out the way.

Giving extra accommodation is the conservatory at the back. Used by the owners as a gym, there’s versatility for other options too. Surrounding windows afford sunlight and garden outlooks, and there’s a door onto the patio for going between indoors and outdoors.

The kitchen is a really good size, with a range of white gloss cabinets and wood-effect surfaces, a sink and drainer, an integrated oven, gas hob and extractor, plus gaps for a fridge/freezer and a slimline dishwasher. The back door leads straight to the outbuildings, where the owners have further appliances. These brick-built stores are great for housing all sorts, from bikes and the lawnmower, to Christmas decorations and DIY bits and bobs. There’s possibility to join to the house as an extension of the accommodation (stp) as neighbours have done, and the owners have various architect drawings for reconfiguring the current layout.

Upstairs, bedrooms one and two are both large doubles. For the owners, bedroom three is the perfect nursery for their little one, but this room is also flexible as a home office or a single bedroom. Completing the first floor is the bathroom, with a three-piece suite of wc, sink and panelled bath.

Alongside all that storage outside, there’s a loft, built-in cupboards to all bedrooms, an understairs alcove in the hall, and a deep airing cupboard on the landing. The solar panel controls are in the airing cupboard (these were installed a year ago, and the owners sell excess back to the grid), and the combi boiler is in the loft (installed around six/seven years ago).

Outside, the garden is a blank canvas. With a patio directly from the house, the remainder is lawned, all enclosed by fencing. A gated side passageway leads to the front, where there’s a gravelled driveway for two maybe three cars, as well as road parking for more.

Herbrand Road is a residential street of similar homes and wonderful neighbours. It’s super convenient for access to the A421 and onto the A1, A6 and M1, and Bedford town centre and station are only 10 minutes away by car and around 15 minutes by bike. Just a short distance from the address are Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ schools, playgrounds, skateparks and leisure centres, as well as Priory Country Park, where adults and children alike are provided with open greenspace, wildlife and watersports. For a fun day out, the owners recommend a morning at W&H Peacock centre, lunch at Friendly Nettle Cafe, a trip to Jubilee Park to burn off some energy, and fish and chips for dinner from down the road. We’re sure you’ll love this house and this location just as they have.
